Starting in the fall of 2006, Su Valley Appaloosas will be bringing in van loads of hay from Oregon. This producer has won numerous awards for his hay over the years, and puts up premium quality hays: Orchard grass, timothy, alfalfa and dairy grade alfalfa. Occasionally, he does have mixed grasses available-do contact us for details on what is currently available. The hay comes bundled into stacks of 24 bales-and each stack is shrink wrapped and weighed individually. The stacks/bundles typically run between 1350 and 1450 pounds each-we will be making up the tonnage so that you are paying for a ton (as close as we can get it!) not a per bale price. These are the compressed half bales that most of you are acquainted with already.
If there is enough need for premium quality hay, we will bring in a van about once a month. For people needing larger quantities, do contact us assistance in getting a van to your location. One ton or a whole van, we can do it! This hay is grown in the high desert of Oregon, where conditions lend itself perfectly to hay production.
Hay analysis is available for folks who want to review them-but the timothy is 12.7% protien on average. Alfalfa is running about 7% more, and dairy grade is into the lower 20 percentile. This is all premium, LEAFY hay, no big stems, dirt, debris, or weeds!
We are not a feed store, but concerned horse owners who understand that a source of clean, premium hay is very difficult to find with our challenging growing conditions here in Southcentral Alaska.
